Cocktails, Mocktails ( fancy drinks)

A cocktails can be defined as mixed drink made from a mixture of two or more beverages, one or more of them being alcoholic.
A good cocktail should have some desirable attributes and the most important among them are,
- it should be able to stimulate the appetite.
- it should be able to please the palate and the eye,
- it should be able to refresh the mind.
Beside being aperitif, cocktails can also be drunk after meals and so they can be differentiated in to:
- aperitif cocktails
- after dinner cocktails.
They also can be classified in to different categories as-
0- squashes( non alcoholic)
0- highball
0- Collins
0- sours
0- slings
0- punches
0- fizzes
The cocktail ingredients.
Beside the method of making cocktails, color and aroma of ingredients used in making cocktails influence the final product.
The ingredients can catagorizefin to thre such as
- main ingredients.
- modifying agents.
- flavoring & coloring agents.
Using particular ingredients
- ice :- ice should be fresh,clear and free from any taste.
-sugar:- sugar should be put in before adding spirited,
Fruits & fruits juices:- whenever possible use only fresh fruits,
Lemon or lime peel:- the peel should be applied around the rim of glass to the deposit the oil on it and them dropped in the drink.
Bitter:- when a recipe call for bitter, only a dash or two is required .
Egg:- egg should be placed in the mixing glass or the shaker. Before spirits are poured inti make sure that the egg is fresh.
Methods of making cocktails:
There are four four methods of making cocktails such as mixing, stirring, shaking andvlending,
Mocktails.
Mocktails is a mixed drink which is made by mixing two or more non alcoholic beverage such as fruit juices, cordials andsquashes. Mocktails are an ideal alternative and a stimulator for people who do not fancyalcoholicbeverages.
Popular mocktails in modernday bars are:
Shirley temple, virgin Mary, pussy foot,lip smacked, little prince, coconut kiss etc,
